Bio

Dr. Shikha Jain, a board-certified hematologist and oncologist, holds a tenured associate professorship in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Her national leadership in oncology shines through her roles as the Director of Communications Strategies in Medicine and the Associate Director of Oncology Communication and Digital Innovation at the University of Illinois Cancer Center, as well as in her leadership roles in the American Society of Clinical Oncology. She is the head of the GI Oncology program at UI Health as the GI Integrated Practice Unit (IPU) lead and is the PI on numerous clinical trials. Dr. Jain is a nationally renowned expert in the neuroendocrine cancer space.
 

Beyond her institutional roles, Dr. Jain stands as a trailblazer and leader in the field. As the Founder and CEO of the Women in Medicine Summit™ and founder of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Women in Medicine® she champions equity and inclusivity in healthcare. Her leadership extends to the nonprofit IMPACT, where she serves as CEO and Co-Founder, spearheading action, advocacy, and amplification in healthcare.
 

Recognized as a rising star in medicine, Dr. Jain's accolades include being named 2024 Illinois Physician Leader of the Year, and was among Medscape's 25 Rising Stars in Medicine in 2020 and honored as one of Modern Healthcare's Top 25 Emerging Leaders in 2019. Her expertise extends to fighting misinformation, evident through her appointment to committees addressing inaccurate information on biological threats and countering scientific mis- and disinformation by the National Academies of Science and Department of Homeland Security. She has been a part of the ResearcHERS initiative with the American Cancer Society for several years, as an Ambassador and co-chair.


Dr. Jain's national influence in oncology is underscored by her TEDx talk on gender parity in healthcare and her contributions to esteemed publications like CNN, USA Today, and Scientific American. Her voice reaches diverse audiences through regular contributions to news channels and publications, alongside extensive publications in impactful journals like the New England Journal of Medicine, PNAS, and JAMA.
 

In the realm of clinical oncology, she takes a patient-centered approach, emphasizing education and outreach. Dr. Jain's belief in personalized care and patient empowerment drives her to equip individuals with knowledge, ensuring informed decisions and minimal stress throughout their cancer journeys.
